May Parlar is an Istanbul born, Berlin and New York City  based visual artist whose work encompasses performance, installation, photography and time-based media. She creates performance-based images that playfully explore the human condition within constructed realities. The idea of self, love, loss, grief, and non/belonging are recurrent themes in her work, which has been published and exhibited internationally.

Parlar has been awarded multiple artist fellowships in the US and Europe, including Vermont Studio Center,  McColl Center for Art, JTHAR,

and Hangar Center for Artistic Production and Research.

Apart from her visual art practice, she is a writer, filmmaker, and

lecturer of art & design at different institutions.
