May Parlar is a photography and video artist living between Istanbul,
Berlin, and NYC.
She creates performative images exploring the human condition and the nomadic experience of 'being' in constructed realities.
The idea of self, time & memory, the notions of belonging and alienation
are recurrent themes in her practice.
Her work has been exhibited and published internationally in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, US, and Turkey. Apart from her art practice
she is an instructor, leads art & design courses and lectures at different universities.
May Parlar has been shortlisted for 2019 Aesthetica Art Prize, for her
ongoing self portrait series 'Collective Solitude'.
